Liverpool 2 are Division 4 champions!

Liverpool 2 made absolutely certain of the division 4 title tonight after beating Aigburth 4 by 4.5 – 1.5 scoreline
Phil Taylor was first to finish with a solid draw on board 4 then relaxed with a good book in a corner (pictured above) before Sam Gibbons got a great QGD win against a tough opponent on board 2 to keep up his impressive record this season
Paul Brown then lost a tough game to a strong young player on board 5 to make the match level once again
Then Peter Leonard got a great win in his first game for Liverpool 2 this season before Jim Gallagher won on board 3 in an English defence against an level graded opponent to himself to make the match safe before Peter Lipka grabbed the outstanding result of the night beating a 143 graded player on top board in a sicilian battle to make the scoreline very comfortable and put all remote chances of a late challenge from any other team impossible
Brilliant result guys,well done all who played tonight and throughout the season, lets see what life’s like in division 3
A quiet juniors night but some very good games from to some top junior players after a busy week for them and some tough puzzles for them to mull over too
In the Swiss Giovanni beat Tony at the top of the table with a few round 5 games still to be played before the next round draw
We also had Gaile, Sam Scott and newcomer to the club, Debbie Dunn who had a good few games against some strong club players, welcome to the club
Great night again, and another big week next Thurday at home for both Liverpool 1 and Liverpool 3 which will be another busy night!
